How to Connect Instagram to your Embassy Creator Profile

Stuck in the Embassy sign up process and can’t figure out how to link your Instagram to your Embassy creator account? This article is for you.

Here are the steps you’ll need to take that we’ll break down:

1. Switch your Instagram to a professional account (Creator or Business Account)

2. Create a Facebook business page

3. Link your Facebook business page to your professional Instagram account

4. Back in Embassy, select this Facebook business page.

After reading those steps, you— like any other rational person— are probably asking a couple questions, the first one being “how long will this take?” Not long. We promise. Our in-office record start-to-finish is 46 seconds, so stick with us.

The second question you’re probably asking yourself is “why on earth do I have to use a Facebook business page to login to my Instagram on Embassy?” We ask ourselves the same thing. Daily.

Long story short, Facebook (who owns Instagram) makes us do it this way. Going through your Facebook business page is the only way Instagram allows us to get the analytics we need for you to run collaborations through Embassy.

Anyway, let’s get started. The first thing you’ll need to do is make sure you have a professional Instagram account. There are two types of “professional” accounts— creator and business. Most Instagram influencers already have a creator or business account, but just in case, here is how to change to one.

1. Switch your Instagram to a Creator or Business account

Open up Instagram and head over to your profile. Once there, follow the instructions below:

Tap the hamburger menu (three lines) on the top right.

Tap “Settings”

Tap “Account”

Scroll to the button and tap “Switch Account Type”

Now, choose “Switch to Creator Account” or “Switch to Business Account”

Which one should you choose? There’s really no wrong answer. Right now, Instagram’s Creator and Business accounts are virtually identical when it comes to features. The main perk of choosing a Business account is you will have the ability to use auto-publishing apps for your content, so if that is important to you, go with a business account! You can switch from one to the other at any time, by the way.

2. Create a Facebook business page

Now that you’ve switched to a Professional Instagram account, you’ll need a Facebook business page associated with your Instagram account. This sounds like a lot of work, but trust us, it’s not. You literally just have to make it exist and give it a name. It’s okay if you never upload so much as a profile picture to this— no one will see it if you don’t want them to. We recommend naming this page after your full name or your Instagram handle! Here’s how to get a Facebook business page created:

Go back to your profile on Instagram

Tap “Edit Profile”

Under “Public Business Information” or “Profile Information”, tap “Page”

Tap “Create Page” and follow the steps Facebook provides

3. Link your Facebook business page to your professional Instagram account

This step should only apply to you if you did not create a Facebook business page from Instagram as described in the previous step. If you followed step 2, that page should be automatically linked for you now. If for whatever reason you have a Facebook business page and it’s not currently linked at this step in the process, fear not. Here’s all you have to do:

Go back to the “Edit Profile” page if you’re not already there

Under “Public Business Information” or “Profile Information”, tap “Page”

Tap “Connect Existing Page”

Now choose the page you’d like to connect!

4. Back in Embassy, select this Facebook business page

All the hard work is done now! Head back to the Embassy app and click “connect Instagram” once again. This will pull up a Facebook popup. Just follow these easy steps:

Login to your Facebook

Grant Embassy permission to access your Facebook page

Choose the Facebook business page you just created/connected to your Instagram!

Voilà. You should be connected and ready to sell your content and manage your business on Embassy!
